A Concert for People, Peace and the Planet

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 • Fitzgerald Theater • Saint Paul, MN

We're expecting visitors…
Our elephant friends!

Provention is a project by the music and arts communities of Minnesota dedicated to making sure that the Republican National Convention is not written off as just a big party with balloons. We’ve got some issues we’d like to put front and center.

Our Goals

Our own goals are peace on earth, health care and education for all Americans, and a transparent United States government that represents the interests of people and the planet over the interests of corporations. And while the national spotlight is pointing at our state, we want to make sure that no one glosses past these important issues.

Big Hug

Let’s welcome the GOP with the highest honors we know: music, beauty and rational engagement. Here’s a big rock party just across town from their party! Here’s the 4th Annual Poster Offensive to help guide big elephant hearts. And in case and in case anyone’s Googling around for advice on their platform we offer ours as a model!

Welcome to Minnesota!

The Traffic Factor:
Not a Factor

Visitors entering St. Paul via Interstate 94 will be pleased to know that exits and roads leading to the Fitzgerald Theater concert site will be open on Tuesday, including the 10th Street, Exchange and Wabasha exits. Here's a nice map (PDF) that shows precisely where you can drive, and it looks like all roads lead to Provention, and – perhaps by extension – health care for all Americans, peace on earth, and a renewable energy future! (Are we reading too much into this map?)

The Roster Grows!

Our concert roster is building into a monstrous, grinning behemoth of Provention power!

My, my. Look at this: St. Paul artist Maria Isa jumps on board! It seems like everyone is excited to say "Hello" to the partying patriots of the GOP!  Here's a partial list:

  • Nellie McKay
  • Dan Wilson
  • The Honeydogs
  • The New Standards
  • Haley Bonar
  • Matt Wilson and John Munson are "The Twilight Hours"
  • Jeremy Messersmith
  • Maria Isa

And many more.
See the whole crew!
